State of Decay 2 has been my favorite game for a year and a half, streaming it on Game Pass cloud. 232 hours of play with 7 survivors lost so far. I finished 4 maps on Dread difficulty, now I'm near the end of my first Nightmare clear. . It's a big jump in difficulty. I think this game has one of the best combat models out there, the best in any survival game currently. How it lets you transition almost seamlessly between fully fleshed out melee and ranged systems is something I hope to see in other games.
What a pro. Will never forget the OST
Don't know much what's coming out anytime soon, that I'm interested in. I was interested in Callisto Protocol, but the footage I've seen looks bland, inferior to Dead Space. I guess System Shock remake will fulfill my space horror desires instead. Tactics Ogre re-release when? Wo Long, Black Myth, Skald: Against the Black Priory and others I'm looking forward to are not coming out anytime soon.
And how come no one is talking about the new Valkyrie Profile game coming out?
This game was the definition of meh, a consolation prize for Genesis owners. Sega was still often getting scraps from third party developers, a trend continued from the Master System. But since I didn't have SNES and wanted in on some of that TMNT action, I took what I could get. I barely remember anything about it besides being easy enough to beat on a one day rental, and fighting Krang at the end. Contra Hard Corps is one of the best games in that series, and Castlevania Bloodlines is straight solid, so I don't know what happened here.
At least in my circle, the presentation was the draw. We marvelled at Leviathan being summoned in the demo. Ultimately the game was interesting, important, but just ok to me as a JRPG. I never had an itch to replay it and nothing about the remake interests me. The hero characters are silly to me now. I would play a romhack/mod though, one that made the game more challenging, resources more limited, and added a fourth character to the battle party, as I find aspects of the world still interesting
I played Exiles a bit on the GP cloud. Single player mode. I've been into survival/survival-craft games for the past few years, so I was really enjoying it but the crafting is very time consuming and I have other games I wanted to get at. Maybe I'll come back to it down the road and try to get closer to the endgame. I have a small house with a few workshops, but I'd want to build a new, bigger, permanent base further north closer to higher level areas, where the best resources are.
