BaD #6: Tube-It

Posted on 02/08/2022 at 07:58 PM | Filed Under Blogs

I kind of liked this one, because I really liked the game Pipe Dream back then.  But there are definitely way better puzzlers out there.  One of the Taito collections has an awesome puzzle game called Cleopatra's Fortune.  I really liked the stage music in that one.

The character in Cleopatra's Fortune was also in another Taito action puzzle game called Puchi Carat. That game played like a cross betweek Arkanoid and Puzzle Bobble. Except because of a translation error, Cleopatra in that game is called Patarco for some reason.  But her stage has a remix of the Cleopatra's Fortune stage theme.

First game on your list I've never played.

Shoot I'll be lucky if I can beat ONE game this month, much less four!

I reviewed one of the Paw Patrol games.  Not this one, but the one before it I think.  The game was all right for little kids.  I think the show is cute.  I like the pup who drives a garbage truck.

BaD #5: Tokio

Tokio just felt like a bland airplane shooter game to me.  I'd rather play 1943 instead.

One shooter that really impressed me on one of the Taito collections was Metal Black.  Have you played that one?

OST So Good! #5: Chrono Cross

I reviewed Chrono Cross way back when for The Dallas Morning News.  Really felt like it should've been its own thing, and not a sequel to anything.  The battle system was just a cleverly disguised card game.  Graphics and music were nice, though.  I Am Setsuna felt more like a Chrono Trigger sequel than Chrono Cross did.  With a few storyline tweaks, I Am Setsuna could've been like a Chrono Trigger side story set in the ice age era.

I don't know how these devs survive when it takes them years and years to make a game!  I just finished reviewing KungFu Kickball, and I first played it at PAX around three years ago!  And it's not that complicated of a game!

Another arcade game Jeff really liked when he was litle was Circus Charlie.  That game is where we got the phrase "Turbo Horse" from.

Chrono Cross wins out for me, but I've never been interested in those Devil May Cry games.

BaD #6: 5 PS5 games I want to play the most

Posted on 02/07/2022 at 08:02 AM | Filed Under Blogs

I think the only PS5 game I'd want to play is BugSnax, and I can play that on PS4 if I wanted to, so I'm good.  I hear PS5's are hard to get now anyway so I'm happy with what I have.
