I was hoping Nobunaga would be in the title so I could annoy everyone by calling it "Nobunga Pokaymon."

I agree that AC4 lacked that sense of weight that I really want from a game like this. The ACV demo that was available on XBL and PSN was short-lived to test out the multiplayer and doesn't appear to be available any longer. I think if you downloaded it during the demo you could come back to it and play the single player, but I don't see it in the game listings any more.
We should have a review up before long, so check back and see what we thought.
You sure got your money's worth out of that XIII-2 demo! Looking forward to your Forge World Diaries.
NICE! I have no clue how much more I have to go in EO3, but I've sure enjoyed it. It would take some big changes like this to make me consider trying another entry in the series.
Finally, some forewarning about upcoming titles from Nintendo. It's bad practice to just dump stuff into the eShop and announce it via e-mails to fans only.
Also, despite the fact that I have about eight never-gonna-play-'em NES titles on my 3DS already...resisting Punch Out!! is futile. That is exactly what my lunch breaks have been needing.
I've been making fun of these games for almost ten years now in the confines of my own brain. I'll be more kind in the future... well, at least to the original game. People still go nuts for this thing, though. I know plenty of people that own just a Wii and this is one of the three games they own for the system. I guess they know their audience.
Oh, and I love your picture captions. Can't wait for the next entry!
Agreed that the music is great!
Those .hack games always sounded interesting, but there's no way I'm starting a trilogy of full-length RPGs any time soon.
I always hope that the magic of multi-event sports games like this can return somehow, but I think the era has passed.
I've never had the same compulsion you have with C&C in an RTS... sounds like an interesting way to play, and if it's fun, then it's fun. Fable II was a little broken, although I didn't run into the too much money issue until pretty late in the game. I keep meaning to boot that game up again and see how much interest I've earned over the last couple of years.
I guess some games force you to work within their assumptions a little so they don't 'break,' but sometimes you're too far along in the game before you notice that things are going awry. Most JRPGs have some sort of issue like this that people eventually uncover and it 'ruins' the game for some. It's got to be a very difficult to think of every possible 'abuse' when a game is being created.
Thanks for another great blog!
FF VI was on the SNES, so your best bet now is probably the Wii virtual console release. The PS1 re-release is endlessly complained about for its load times.
I'm pretty behind on the FF series as well, but I'm working on it. I can tell you this: it takes a lot of time to play catch up.
