Pokémon Black and White Announced

Posted on 04/11/2010 at 04:43 PM | Filed Under News

I think some of what was actually done in Diamond and Pearl worked to rectify some of the "meaningless" Pokemon, though they did add a few more. Tangela, Electabuzz, Magmar, and others received necessary evolution upgrades in an attempt to make the Pokemon that are there more relevant, and I certainly don't see anything wrong with adding in more Pokemon when the ones they add improve upon what's already there.

I don't think 3D animated battles are as good of an idea, though. In all the 3D games I've played, I've really not seen anything all that impressive. Most often, it's a video of a Pokemon doing a stock animation toward an invisible wall.

This said, I wouldn't be opposed to an alternative line very much like what you described. Pokemon as a battling/adventure/collection-based RPG works pretty well, but I'm all for a game with more emphasis on individualizing Pokemon, and wouldn't mind seriously reduced numbers if time and effort was put into animation and control of each Pokemon.

Tim Tebow announced as NCAA Football 11's Cover Athlete

As a Gator, I think it's great. I'm a Tebow fan, and I'm glad to see him recognized by EA. He broke quite a few UF and SEC records, and was a major factor in both titles he won. To top off his resume, he was the first Sophomore to win the Heisman. He's almost definitely this year's most known player to enter the draft, so I have to say he's certainly the best choice.

I like the tag-line for the featured article part: "Do you like to 'Do It Yourself'?"

I know you stole that from the 40-Year Old Virgin, but I'll bet it was Chessa who came up with it.

April Fools '10 - PixlBit Announces New Review Policy

It was a last minute thing, and as far as I can tell, PixlBit's engine could only support one review per game. I actually did want to create a second Red Steel 2 review, but I didn't want to mess up our real one, so for this year, it was out of the question.

Ah, see, I think the issues stem much deeper than that: The gameplay is shockingly shallow for how much talk of thousands of words. Let me link you to the editorial pages I wrote, so you can see how I felt. 1, 2, 3, and 4.
