I am very tempted to tear into the last remake's post-game content after seeing this trailer. What a thoroughly addictive and satisfying series!

I played this quite a bit, knew something was wrong with me or it, but kept trying to like it. I sort of did, but struggled with everything you mention. I still have in the back of my mind somewhere that I should like this, but I have tried many times and failed.
On a related note, someone made a game with these sprites/ideas for the Flappy Jam. It's hard and well done for that jam's goals.
