Remember when Abe's Oddysee was supposed to be part one of a five part series? And remember when Abe's Exodus wasn't part of the five part series? These games have charm, but Lorne Lanning always reached too far.

We never found a good, reliable device to get imports to play on PS2. We modded PSX systems when that was still legal, but I preferred the swap method.

If we don't get this, I'll probably import it as well. I used to play a ton of imports on the PSX and Saturn, but it was such a pain on the PS2 that I didn't bother.

The Legend of Dragoon Soars onto PSN This May

Legend of Dragoon was one of the only PSX RPGs I skipped. Not saying I'll pick it up now, but I was always surprised that a sequel never came out. It was a pretty good seller.

I looked things up, and it seemed like the PS3 had more "issues". But most of the things highlighted were things you'd only notice if you've played these games a ton, or had them pointed out to you. People always expect ports of older games to be perfect, but that's just not the case, what with older code having to be updated to new hardware, when they actually have the code to begin with.

There's a movie just dying to be made about the birth of video games. DiCaprio was supposed to play Nolan Bushnell in a film, but I guess it got scrapped.

Atari was pretty much on the way out when Tramiel took over. It didn't help that his cutthroat tactics had alienated the small games industry already, or the fact that the bubble had already broken. Had Ray Kassar managed to ink that distribution deal between Atari and Nintendo perhaps things would have gone differently. But somehow I don't think Tramiel would have gotten along well with Nintendo.

Armored Core V Review

I loved the first Armored Core and Project Phantasma. I keep wanting to jump back in, but it seems like the games are getting more and more complicated. The emphasis on online play is a deal breaker for me.

I just want to make an Optimus Prime mech and blow stuff up. Is that too much to ask?? :P

Whether we agree or not, the JRPG has become a genre this generation, if for no other reason than to differentiate it from the rise of Western made RPGs. Video game genres as a whole are busted, so you're really just arguing semantics at this point.

It's clear that this is a subject of great passion for you. Bully for you. Personally, I'd like to see you back up your statements with some factual examples, since you seem so adamant against "false opinions".

These days, I really don't care about championing a particular genre, company, or platform. I enjoy good games that hold my interest. For me, the majority of RPGs coming out these days don't hold or even spark my interest because they are so similar to games I've played in the past. And that's about all I have to say about that.
