3DS Demo Unit in the Wild

Posted on 03/14/2011 at 08:46 PM | Filed Under Feature

Ah, thanks for the clarification. While it may limit your time with it, at least in the display I was playing on, a variety of challenges were already complete, each with scores (in stars) attached. I had quite a few missions to pick from - a far wider array than what was available at E3.

Not sure if that lines up with your experience, but that's what I had seen in the few minutes I played it.

@Stanton

Gah, why do I always forget that theft is an option!?

Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light Review

I agree, Kathrine. That's a bit much for me. It definitely doesn't seem like something I'd enjoy, and I know that Chessa did not enjoy it when she had played a bit of it before sending it off to Nate.

I'm glad he enjoyed his time with it though and was able to provide a differing viewpoint on the quality and construction of the game.

Pokemon Black & White Preview

Well, a copy did arrive from Nintendo, but I quickly found out that the game only has a single save file... meaning Chessa will be the only one playing it.

I'm really disappointed that the game only has a single save file. If I were betting money, I'd guess that Nintendo did this on purpose in an effort to encourage multiple purchases per household. Can't say that's going to work here - I just won't be playing yet another generation of Pokemon games.

Yes... then they applied and were subsequently hired to work here.

I'd say that pretty much confirms how grey this is. Is "Everyone has AIDS" hinting at sexual activity? Probably not. On basis, I don't think that the phrase was meant to offend other members, which Microsoft did agree with when my brother called them. Sounds to me like a knee jerk reaction to a silly complaint.

I have a big problem with Microsoft just instabanning members who have been paying customers and caused no problems for four years. State all you want how this disobeys the rules (I think it's pretty borderline, if anything), but when someone has endorsed your company for four years, then randomly gets a complaint, not about conduct but about their tagline, they at least deserve the benefit of the doubt.

What Microsoft did is prove to my brother that they don't value his business. Even worse, they are causing financial harm at that point by deactivating his account. "Oh, thanks for your XBL subscription for the next 2 years, also for all of your DLC and downloaded games!"

Forget right and wrong, this is just bad business.

Woohoo, more Double Fine XBLA goodness to look forward to! I'm a bit sick of Tower Defense in general, but I'll give Double Fine the chance to prove themselves.

@Stanton

You really are the worst.

First of all, this is pretty firmly in a grey area. He has had the tagline on there for 4 or so years with no complaints and the tagline itself doesn't really insult anyone offhand. Maybe someone got angry because they had AIDS? I don't know, but it seems like a thin argument at best.

Nevertheless, for something so innocuous he should've just gotten a warning and been asked to remove the tagline. Next time he did it, they could possibly take a firmer stance, but for a first time offense, that's a bit extreme.

This is completely unrelated, but my Mother and Grandmother are currently watching the show "Glee." I had no idea what the show was, nor have I ever seen it, but right now I have headphones in so don't have to hear the awful music. I can't even begin to understand why this show is popular or how people can tolerate listening to it.

In Defense of Waggle

@Anonymous

I think the game becoming that much easier thanks to waggle is a testament to just how great it is in that given application. Without it, you weren't struggling with the game, but with the control input, which is a problem that we should always be trying to overcome.

I'm glad that Nintendo introduced motion control this generation, but I'm hoping the ideas that have been set forth can be reflected on and refined in the coming generation in order to provide superior game experiences.
