Sorry that I enjoyed the game. Do I consider it a contender for GoTY? Definitely. Will it be GoTY? Maybe not, but it def is one of the best games I've played so far this year. Was it perfect, no. But it was fun, and enjoyable. I'll continue to praise it because I feel other people should experience it. Nuff said. I understand others dont feel the same, and thats fine. But everyones entitled to their own opinion.
Agreed. I'd like to see either a spin on the Prime Series. When i say that i mean the same gameplay as the prime games, but a new story that isnt about the Metroid Prime anymore, but rather something different. I am fiending for a new 2D game though, so maybe a sequel to Fusion would be cool. Maybe even... wait for it... Metroid Dread! lol, one can dream...
Metroid is easily my favorite franchise. Almost every game in the series (except for Prime: Hunters) was great, even Other M (from a gameplay standpoint, not a narrative standpoint). I was late to Super Metroid, but the game has aged insanely well, and stands as one of the best games I've ever played. My favorite game of all time is Metroid Prime. The game changed my perspective on the industry as a whole, and remains fun to this day. I recently replayed Fusion and Zero Mission and both games are also incredible. Especially Zero Mission, I personally feel that game is easily the 3rd best in the series (following Prime 1 and Super Metroid). I did a 5 part video retrospective last year for the 25th anniversary and im glad i did. put the series in perspective for me. Sure, I may never conquer the original NES Metroid, and Metroid 2 is still hard and unforgiving, but I still think this series is amazing. I feel like it really doesnt get its just due though. Hoping the next game in the franchise, whether on Wii U or 3DS gets announced soon.
Hmm, first mindgame that comes to mind was in Batman: Arkham Asylum. The all of the scarecrow sections were just crazy. That was definitely more of a good trick, but as for something that i didnt expect, only thing i can think of was Viewtiful Joe Red Hot Rumble. I thought that game would be fun...I was wrong :/
yeah you nailed it pretty much. I agree, I like YJ more than most of the Nu52 stuff. Batman's stuff has been on point, and i like where they are going with WW and GL, but everything else has been kinda meh, especially (and most unfortunately) Superman whose Nu52 stuff has been horrible.
I did notice Thundercats got shut down too. My brother used to watch it and had good things to say about it.
And totally re-watch Wolverine and the Xmen. The final batch of eps (like the last 7 or so) were very good.
They way I see it, they pull an Arkham City. Same gameplay, just expanded upon in a psuedo-open world. I totally wouldnt mind that.
I totally agree with your review. There are a lot of things implemented that I feel should have, and could have been part of the larger narrative. However, I felt that the game was insanely fun. The game provided just enough linearity and just enough openness (if thats a word) to make it interesting. Not only that, but the mechanics are pretty awesome. In a lot of ways, I had more fun shooting down bad guys here than Uncharted. If anything, it's just as good, and stands on its own in a few areas. My biggest gripe with the game was the half-assed multiplayer. It felt very meh compared to the rest of the experience. Overall, I can totally see Tomb Raider 2 being an amazing game. As long as they improve on some of those small issues, and expands upon the exploration and puzzle solving. This was definitely one of my favorite games this year so far.
I can agree to an extent. the game is totally functional, and plays alright, and that once sequence i mentioned was pretty cool. However I just feel that there are tons of games that do it better, and that Aliens fans would be more upset than anything after seeing what they did with the story.

Yeah, if you can manage, the PS3 version would be prime. I really wish that came out here, they went balls out and added a whole bunch to that one. I woulda dumped at least 100 more hours into it if they released it...but oh well, I can live without it i suppose.
