I'm totally with you. I never understood the smoking and drinking crowd,Lee. Sure, once in awhile I kick back alittle rum and some smirnoof coolers but doing it almost everyday for a whole year? I just don't have it in me.
Besides, I literally watched my brother drink himself to death so that wizened me up real quick!
Sadly I "do" have quite an addiction to caffeine. lol.
I think the alternate cover for Bioshock would have been a good idea as it doesn't really give much of the actual story & mood away yet it still relates to Rapture in some way. People would be twice as surprised and terrified being thrust into a ruined Rapture with big daddies and splicers around every corner!
The sorceress in Dragon's Crown definitely was the spark that reignited the fire, Nicole. Personally I find it silly folks get so irate over this petty stuff when there are much worse problems out there. But you're right. Never be ashamed to be a gamer!
I'm jealous. I've been pretty impressed by WB's games lately so I would have liked to get more info on their newest Batman game in the works.
I also still keep up with capcom though my emotions for them as a company constantly fluctuate between love and loathing. lol. If anything I had a lot of fun with Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen and I just might get the newest update of SF4 with Elena.
I had no problem with Jack either. She kind of reminded me of a punker biker chick straight out of extreme 80's culture. lol. But I see your point. She was a pretty controversial design.
I'm just mad games get attacked for the dumbest little things. For example Killer is Dead's gigolo mode. For one thing the whole game is a parody of James Bond (a character known for being a seductive womanizer) and secondly the very word "gigolo" degrades men more than woman. The mini game is a satirical wink to Bond and his various female conquests yet people take it seriously and flip out about it as if it's worse than a real woman getting stoned to death.
Depends on how Quiet acts & reacts in the game. Aka, she could set the standard really high (despite her choice of fashion) or set the bar really low. (Aka,if she comes off as Snookie from Jersey shore. lol. Though truth be told, I feel kinda mean by taking jabs at Snook. She's such an easy target.)
I often thought a lot of MG characters looked like BDSM enthuaists. lol. (Psycho-Mantis and naked cart-wheeling Raiden come to mind surprisingly)
However, I will say appearances aside, most MG characters end up surprising me in some way by just how deep and human they are.
Personally I don't think Quiet has an offensive immature design (I've seen much worse) but that's just my personal opinion. Besides,should I be offended Kojima wanted to create a sexy character? By that logic you should lash me many times over as well as the artist for Dragon's Crown.
If Quiet ends up being a shallow vapid under-developed cliche THEN I'll be offended. Afterall, more goes into buiding a fictional person than their outer appearance.
I know when I recently pulled out my psp before a movie to pass some time I felt self conscientious. I was kind of afraid what the other adults and teenagers in the movie theater would think seeing a grown 30-something man enjoying his handheld gaming device.
It's kind of weird because we say gaming has become more accepted yet if that's true why is there still the impulse to hide it?

Looks confusing. At first it looked like a revenge vigilante flick....(blonde with shotgun dealing with unfriendly locals)...then it seemed miore like "Texas Chainsaw massacre"(dangerous rednecks)....then FINALLY it came off as Evil dead. (Intelligent undead wearing temporary human guises). This will either be really good or really terrible!
Yeah, there is a slew of free to play games. Heck, I even got the really good horror game "Cry Of Fear" for absolutely nothing!
However, "gaming piracy" isn't something I'd turn in a friend for or shame someone for. In my life I've seen very deplorable and heinous atrocities so maybe I'm disensitized to lesser crimes!
What would boil my blood more is someone taking credit for someone else's hard work.
