Yeah when I had emulators on my PC, I learned a lot about Genesis games I didn't know existed, since I didn't have a Genesis as a kid.  Aside from Daze Before Christmas, I learned that Crusade of Centy was a blatant Link to the Past ripoff, and should be on Genesis collections today!  Also learned there was a new Pengo game on it that actually played more like Bomberman.  And there was a Super Mario All-Stars version of Mega Man that had 16-bit versions of Mega Man 1-3 on it!  Actually I knew about those titles before, but they were mostly SEGA Channel exclusives, and who actually had that back then?  Nobody I knew!

Strangely enough, I didn't discover just how awesome Streets of Rage 2 was with those emulators!  It just slipped by me!  I knew about Streets of Rage before that, but I didn't give it much of a look because beat 'em ups were a dime a dozen back then.  It wasn't until I played it on one of the early Genesis collections (I think on the Dreamcast) that I discovered how awesome it was!

Not only did I like Bubble Bobble when I was a kid, later on I had it on a PSOne collection, and my brother Jeff and I played it a lot when he was little, and he loved it, too.

Shantae games are great.  I recommend Shantae and the Pirate's Curse.  It's my second favorite and easily accessible on most current consoles.  But any Shantae game is good, so whichever you start out with will be a winner.

If you have another player, Streets of Rage 4 is way easier, and more fun.

Shantae and the Pirate's Curse is my second favorite Shantae game (the original is my favorite).  But all of them are good.

The Switch may not be my number one favorite Nintendo console, but it's certainly worth getting if you can afford it.

I think I first read about Daze Before Christmas in a magazine, but probably thought it was a joke or something.  Then in college when game emulators were first starting to rise, I had it on my Genesis emulator.  For what it is, it's really not THAT bad, though.  Decent little 16-bit platformer from what I remember.

I didn't have emulators on my PC for very long, though.  I decided to uninstall them for two reasons.  One, I was starting to become a "big time game reviewer" and I was worried about the legal issues regarding emulators and what it might do to my reputation.  Seems silly now, but back then, I didn't know.  The other reason I deleted my emulators is because with SNES, Genesis, NES, and arcade MAME emulators all at my fingertips, I was worried I wouldn't get anything done and neglect my college studies.  I haven't had emulators on my PC since.

I wish I had time to play the new Dragon Quest game.  I would play it totally in 16-bit mode, though.

Yeah that's a good question.  Ring Fit Adventure is much more intense than Wii Fit.  You have to jog and sprint in place, and get up and down off the ground to do a lot of the exercises.  Heck, even I got tired during some of them, and I work out and exercise nearly every day for an hour or so.  (I've been doing that pretty consistently over the past two years and gained about 15 to 20 pounds of muscle)  One other thing I liked about Ring Fit is that not only is it a good fitness game, it's also a competent RPG with a skill tree and everything!

But every person is different and has different fitness needs and goals.  I just didn't feel like I was getting anywhere with Wii Fit, and I don't think it helped my balance either.  But then, because of my disability, I do have trouble balancing sometimes (being blind in one eye can mess with your equillibrium).  There were some other design choices I didn't like about Wii Fit either, and when I first got the game, I remember thinking "this is what everyone was going ga-ga for?"

One fitness game series on the Switch you may want to look into that's a bit lower impact is the Fitness Boxing games.  Nintendo just released the sequel about a month ago.  They're not as good as Ring Fit, but I think they're better than Wii Fit.

I didn't get Wii Fit until much later when it was on sale.  60 bucks for the game and balance board wasn't a bad deal.  I wasn't impressed with the game, though.  I've played much better fitness games out there.  Ring Fit Adventure is probably the best fitness game I've played.  I do like that fact that Wii Fit Trainer is a character in Smash.
