You know what's funny is that this past weekend was one of my brother's wedding. At the wedding venue, they had a 'groom's house' where the groom and groomsmen could change and hang out. Someone brought a Switch and they were all playing Smash in there!
Yes, Brawl is the Wii version. I actually played more of Melee and Brawl than I did the Wii U and Switch versions of Smash.
SiniStar scared the hell out of me as a kid. I would purposely walk as far as I could around the arcade machine when I could. And the arcade owners would ALWAYS crank up the volume of that machine!
Only media thing about 2008 that I remember is that I named Super Smash Bros. Brawl my GOTY that year.
I never got into Shinobi in the arcade, but it was popular. It played a lot like Rolling Thunder, which makes me wonder who copied who? I like that Yuzo Koshiro did the music for one of the Genesis games. I reviewed a 3DS Shinobi game that was all right, but it did have some neat secrets and cameos. I never played the 3D Shinobi games because I heard they were very hard, but I think it's cool that one of them stars a female ninja. I also heard that Alex Kidd in Shinobi World is a very good game, but I've never played it.
Yeah there's some odd video game sounds that make me react, too. Like SiniStar's voice. That scared the poop out of me as a kid and it still gives me shivers. Also, in Adventures of Lolo on the NES, these Medusa statues can turn you to stone if you pass by their line of sight, and that SHOOM sound they make when they do that always made me jump! I had the opportunity to review this, but it looked like yet another twin stick shooter to me, so I passed on it. Plus I've got like, seven other games to review right now!
2007 is when I got an Xbox 360, which became one of my favorite consoles. Not number one, but at least in the top five. That year I did give my GOTY to Super Mario Galaxy, but looking back, I would've gave it to Portal had I played it that year.
Yeah they can be pretty obtuse. Even I have had to use a guide on some of them.
