Nintendo's portable systems, a review. Pt. 3 - The Nintendo DS

The DS had such a great library. I think it was because of the ports. It was more like the SNES 2 more than anything.

Yeah, the bundle was $150 at the time. But it was a better alternative, at least for me, than the PsP, which didn't pick up steam until after its first year. I really recommend Castlevania DoS. I still play it from time to time.

I forgot about the DQ games being on this! Definitely, I will have to track them down. While I never got in on the Pokemon craze, I recognize that they were very influential to a whole generation of gamers.

There never does seem to be enough time to play games. Might I suggest doing 10 minutes here and there? You can always put the thing on standby while you're on the go. It's mean to be played in short bursts. Smile

Bought this day 1. Beating World of Light was a fun time. Some of the characters are a lot of fun as well, and I was surprised at how good I am with some of them. I'm really looking forward to playing with Banjo Kazooie. Highly recommended to get.

Nintendo really did know how to make a fun portable back in the day. It really did feel more like a continuation of the SNES, since the N64 and GC was all about 3D games. I did like all of the first party ports because usually you would have some bonus features attached to them.

I forgot about the Golden Sun series. Good catch. I never got to play the Minish Cap either. I really wanted to like the Tactics Advance games, but they were severely limited gameplay wise I felt compared to the original game.

I agree. The original was so hard to see. There are a number of mod kits online for it as well, if you really want to dig out your old system and mess with it.

I really do miss the GB sometimes. I don't think I ever owned an original one when they came out. It was so long ago and I was just a kid then. I did pick up a GB Color though. That's probably why I don't have a big collection. I would love it if they did a reissue of them for collectors. Maybe have it like the classic consoles with a whole bunch of games on them, too.

So true. There were way too many cash grab games on the GB. I never played Metroid II, but I never heard about the Kid Icarus game until now. I'll have to keep on the lookout for that one.
