My PS3 finally died and one of my cats is really sick

Best wishes to your kitty, Peter. I hope she pulls through it this time too.

When do you know it's time to give up on a game?

I start giving up when I feel like it's not worth my time. Money comes and goes, I don't usually worry about buyer's remore so the only thing valuable a game can waste is my time.

One of the last games I remember actually giving up on was GTA 4. I enjoyed some parts of it, made it several missions into the main story, and then I just felt like I saw everything I wanted to see, did everything I felt like doing, and it wasn't worth the time investment anymore so I stopped playing.

I gave up on Manhunt, but that didn't have any redeeming qualities, novelty, and impressive spectacle like GTA does, Manhunt was just dumb and I quit after about 30 minutes.

Look who you're talking to, of course I'll watch the Skype sessions if you post them. This is a good idea; it should be fun to see how this plays out.

It's been forever since I've seen Mike Wall around here! We are lucky that we get some JBone once in a while, but we get Wall-E ...never, this will be great!

Episode 52: Not So New

I watched Homefront over the past weekend, it was pretty good. I still need to see Expendables 3. I'm slowly but surely catching up on the Stathams I haven't seen.

I also watched Silent Hill: Revelation after Homefront, but that was just a thing that happened. I love the first Silent Hill movie, I can still watch that and get a lot out of it. It's not a perfect film but it's oozing with atmosphere and has the music and decent enough acting, and a decent enough script that it doesn't make the decent actors look bad. I love the 1st film, the second one is about as bad as it could be. I can't imagine a Silent Hill film making any less sense or have a more lame script and dialogue than what came across in SH: Revelation. It does everything wrong. I played tetris on my phone most of the time. I couldn't bring myself to turn off Revelation and just move on, I had to more or less see what it was about. It was terrible. Tetris is great though, it kept me busy while I waited for the movie to end.

I'm excited to see what the new Silent Hill Kojima/Del Toro reboot will actually be. At this point, why not? I watched Patrick Klepek's quick look of PT over at Giant Bomb and I thought that what I saw was fantastic. Del Toro juices are oozing all throughout PT. Plus, the whole vibe and setting of PT showed a lot of similarities to SH4: The Room. SH4 had 1st person segments when you're inside the apartment, which were my favorite parts of the game.

It was a simple, intimate, relateable setting. But you were trapped inside it, and over time it became more twisted and hostile and the false sense of security began to be stripped away. I loved those aspects of Silent Hill 4, and PT evoked some of that.

I agree it's probably worth giving a shot, the fact it's an Obsidian project is enough to get me interested. It's super cheap to try out anymore, I see it for $5-$10 brand new on amazon, I might have to grab that soon.

I love gyros, I'll have to make sure to get some tzatziki on one next time. There's a gyro shack a short drive from where I live, might be a trip there in the near future.

Did you ever play the Obsidian game Alpha Protocol? I've never seen it in action. I heard that it wasn't so hot, and Josh Sawyer from Obsidian admitted they made some mistakes with it, but I wonder what it's all about. It's supposedly an espionage rpg of some kind.

Thanks Alex!

40k is fascinating, but I only read the codex's and play the occasional video game of them. The original table top game is nuts, there's figurines and crazy set pieces that players construct themselves or buy modular. The table top game is cool to watch but I don't think I'd ever do it myself, it's a whole can of worms by itself.

Good luck at Winco Foods, that sounds like it'd be nice if you can get on!

I've been on a soup kick for a few months, I make a big batch on Mondays and snack on it throughout the week inbetween classes at school.

What's tzatziki? Never had it before, I might try it just out of curiosity.
