Episode 65.5: Catharsis

All things in moderation, but yes, I think counting calories is the most effective. It also makes the most sense. I mean, your body burns x calories a day. If you want to lose weight, give it less than that, forcing it to burn up reserves. It just makes sense.

Ah, my oldest is 14 so he's able to reason his way out of stuff like that. He's clearly stuck at the moment, but he keeps chipping away at it. I already told him I wont help him unless he absolutely needs it, or it's some sort of mechanical confusion on his part. So far I've been able to mostly keep quiet and just observe. It's really fascinating to see how his mind has improved in just a few short years, and to see how the designers hint at things without outright saying it.

Actually Thief combat is supposed to be difficult. It's the game's way of encouraging you to use stealth. That's encouraging. I do plan on getting it, like I said, but I need a PS4 first...

Dude, it's such a Japanese game though. One mission in 6 has you taking out a fleet of 5 massive, single wing planes, the largest of which is so huge it's actually a carrier for smaller aircraft. It's just good, ridiculous fun.

Oh my word that image of the Risk game. I can actually match one of my relatives to the personality of each of those caricatures pretty easily.

So, here's some stuff I didn't mention on the podcast that you might find interesting:

TNS is actually based on a German novel, but the movie only covers the first half and takes some liberties with the story. It took so many liberties, in fact, that the author took the creators to court, demanding they either cease production, or change the name of the movie. He obviously lost the case. The sequels are actually based on the original story as well, but deviate from the plot even further. Wikipedia has a ton of interesting stuff on the subject and it's worth a look.

Fun fact: The theatrical trailer for the movie shows part of the scene where Sebastian nabs the book from the store, but instead of the book bearing the title "The Neverending Story" it actually has the name of the original book in German. Obviously that was changed as well. (I didn't see this in the Wikipedia entry)
