Cuphead and VVVVVV ... and Castlevania ... and LiS2

Steam sales start either tomorrow or the next day and I'd say a fair few of those would be pretty cheap.

Also, with Momodora grab Reverie under Moonlight. There are 4 momodora games, but the first ones aren't all that good. If you like Reverie go back and try the others but I definitely recommend that one first.

I love the SNK stuff I've played, but I've only played Ikari Warriors, metal slug, and their fighting games. I need to play some more!

 Great blog btw.

Ok some recommendations: I highly recommend Hollow Knight, especially if you like the metroid inspired castlevania games or well, metroid. Hollow Knight is one of the few games that comes close to grabbing onto what I think  makes Dark Souls special, but even without that it'd be an enjoyable experience. It's in my top 5 games of all time, so you should definitely give it a go.

Since you're a fan of Castlevania, you have to try Odallus: The Dark Call, as it basically mixes the classic style castlevania with the metroidvania style of the newer games.

Momodora is also a really, really good metroidvania. It's got really nice pixel art and a really dense atmosphere that I love.

If you haven't played Dead Cells yet, I highly recommend it. Oh and Iconoclasts!

Now, all of those games are quite difficult, so if you want a nice chill experience after those titles, I suggest Yoku's Island Express. It's a pinball metroidvania (yes, I am obsessed with metroidvania's), and it's just a really nice, relaxing game. The two genres actually work well together.

If you ever do get time keep these in mind. They're all fairly short experiences though.

I find Cuphead more difficult than Dark Souls, though Dark Souls suits my skillset more than Cuphead does. I bounced off it because I'm not a huge fan of boss rush games - even though I know Cuphead is really good.

Yeah I got stuck on that bit in Castlevania IV. I don't actually like IV as much as 1 or Rondo of Blood. Something about the artstyle and the way some sections play out more like showcases for the NES rather than being compelling gameplay experiences.

If you finish those games and want recommendations for really good indie 2D games though let me know.

As for what I've been up to... read my latest blog. I've been playing indie FPS games xD.

Lego Batman is awesome and hilarious. I kinda wish I had an xbox so I could replay Crackdown. Such a great game.

I don't remember if you have steam or not, but if you do and choose the one you like the most I could gift it to you. They aren't that expensive. They're around $20 each.

Yeah but apart from Ion Maiden, all of these games feel unique. They feel more like games that could have come out then rather than just straight copies. They have the feel of those games, but Project Warlock has a leveling system with weapon upgrades. Dusk feels like Blood, but it does it's own thing and takes the horror seriously while still being campy and fun. Project Warlock takes inspiration from Hexen/Heretic but still feels unique - especially in it's weapon lineup and level design.

Really, Ion Maiden is the only one that desperately tries to remind you of older games. It's just like "remember Duke Nukem?" and feels like it could almost be a mod of that game. A really well made mod, but a mod nonetheless.

Oh Hai.

Question: If I died in my apartment like a rat in a cage, would the neighbours smell my corpse before the cat eat my face?

Also... When am I getting my vita back?
