I think about this a lot, and I'm only 36. I have been playing games since I was 5, and unlike most people who are gamers my age, I have never taken a break. I've always stayed up to date with the hobby, through magazines, podcasts, YouTube, and of course, buying the latest consoles and big releases.

Like you, I'm not too happy with where the industry is going. It's all kind of congealing into one big lump, isn't it? As an RPG fan it's hard to define that genre. Isn't everything an RPG these days? 

I keep thinking about "retiring", by which I mean that I would stop buying new consoles and games, but start playing games out of my huge collection and revisit old favorites. 

I'm very curious though: as a 62 year old gamer, do you find things difficult? One of the things I worry about most as I get older is not being able to even participate in this hobby. I can always read a book or comic, and enjoy movies, but I need skill and reflexes to enjoy games. 

Yeah, that sounds great! I am glad that I don't drink, because that could have made me way bigger than I am for sure. But I used to consume over 2000 calories in soda alone each day, which is why I've been able to keep my weight around 250-260 without doing anything else. I'm more concerned about really changing my overall diet to be healthier on a permanent basis. 

I'm diabetic, but I've let myself slip too much lately with sweets. Sugar really is a drug, and I have an actual addiction to Coke. When I go to the movies and they show that commercial of Coke getting poured over ice my mouth waters. It's really bad. 

I...LOVED John Wick 2. I had heard that the story was about the brother of the first film's villain getting revenge. I was happy to see that, not only is this not the case, but that character knows to get the hell out of town. 

I dig the world of John Wick, and I want a video game that delves deeper. Yeah, I know, licensed games are terrible, but I don't think that's always true. There is plenty here to translate, and Wick has such a distinct style to the way he shoots and fights (center mass shot, headshot, takedown, headshot, repeat) that I could have a ton of fun there. I want more!

I've been thinking about getting a bike, but I don't have room for it in my apartment, unless I store it on the deck, which I am not jazzed to do.

I'm doing better so far today. I really think getting meal prepping down to a routine is the key for me. I like cooking for other people, but I hate cooking for just me, and will often opt for going out instead. 

It's extremely difficult for me to do anything social or meet new people. There's a reason why I don't have friends. I have thought about joining the Y and taking some classes, though.

Oh man, other people who prefer dubs! I am in my element. I usually prefer the English voice acting because of their performances. A lot of Japanese voice actors seem to be set to 11, no matter the dialogue. I find the English acting to be more nuanced. I watch most of my anime dubbed. The exceptions are The Slayers and Dragon Ball, which I refuse to watch in English. 

I feel like anime is a lot like pop music: each generation has their hits, but the stuff that comes later just isn't FOR you; it's for a younger generation. As such I have not been able to click with modern anime. The newest show I got into was Naruto. I do want to watch One Punch Man because it looks like a throwback to stuff like Kenshin and Dragon Ball, but I bounced right off of Attack on Titan, Kill La Kill, and Gurren Lagann.

For me, totally. I've seen people totally in love with this game, but I just don't get it.

I'd like to, but the only person I could do that with is my girlfriend, and she is barely staying on top of her graduate school work. I don't have any friends near me.
