I absolutely LOVED Twilight Princess when it first came out, so I can't say that I like Okami better, BUT I haven't play TP since then, so in the long run, Okami might be the better game.
I hope you can find the time to play DQXI because it's amazing, and worth your time. Playing in the 2D mode is really great too.
Seriously, you need to get Penguin Wars for Switch, it is super fun! And Streets of Rage 4, also fantastic (and multiplayer).
I'm really glad to hear that Age of Calmity sold well, I just haven't heard many people talking about it. You have to wonder if Koei Tecmo will try to make another musou game from a Nintendo franchise, they've been doing that a lot recently.

Definitely get the Switch version of DQ XI, it's so good. The music alone is comfort foood.

Honestly, DQ XI is a great game to jump into the series with because it's very simple to understand and just all around really great. You should check it out.
Great to hear that some of these will make your GOTY list. A lot of it is subjective, of course. I also have a soft spot for Kirby games.
Now that I think about it, I think I feel the same way about FF VI for SNES.
I think life sims can easily become comfort food games because they're so relaxing and you wish real life was as good as it was in that particular game. We can dream lol
