Bit.Trip Presents: Runner 2, Future Legend of Rhythm Alien Review

I'm tripping out of my skull!

I’ve often said that simplicity is underrated, especially when it comes to video games.  Growing up there wasn’t much you had to learn to play a video game.  With only two buttons and a d-pad, there were only so many control schemes you could cram into an NES game.  Some may think that’s limiting, but I think it’s more inviting.  Anyone can pick up an NES game and be able to figure out the basic controls right away.  Mastering these controls, well, that’s a different thing all together.

Bit.Trip Flux Review

The Bit.Trip conclusion takes the series back to its roots.

Most gamers out there have a much larger appreciation for the Bit.Trip series than I do. Something about the constant repetition and unbending difficulty has very little appeal to me at this point in my life, and I just don't care to sit and do a simple singular task over and over again in order to complete the goals at hand. That being said, Bit.Trip Flux stands out for me because, while hard, offers many checkpoints in a level and unlimited continues. I know I'll never be the guy to max out what the game has to offer by scoring ridiculously high in a given level, so I'm sure some of the magic of Flux is lost on me. Regardless, the game seems to be a fitting end to this unique series, and a great return to the game that started it all, Bit.Trip Beat.

Bit.Trip Fate Review

Take control of Commander Video once again for his latest challenging adventure.

The Bit.Trip series has taken its star character, Commander Video, through a variety of different experiences all of which hearken back to gaming of yesteryear. Fate, the latest title in the series, carries the aesthetic of the titles which precede it, but makes a leap into more modern day gaming experiences with its bullet hell shoot 'em up based gameplay. Like the other games in the series, the concept is not without a twist, and a rail would be Fate's. This rail winds around the screen, allowing players to only travel forward and backward along whatever path the rail has set, and shoot in any given direction. As we've come to expect from the series, this makes for a tremendous challenge that will take players a significant number of replays to conquer.
