Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 January Elite Content Impressions

With a content pack set to release to the public, find out what Elite members have been enjoying throughout January and what you can expect.

Liberation

"Liberation is a militarized Central Park in the heart of NYC, featuring a vast landscape ripe for long-range sniper and LMG kills. Mounted turrets on opposing ends of the map offer overwhelming firepower to anyone brave enough to man them." - Activision

Liberation affords players a ton of open room, which makes sniping very easy. For those who enjoy sprinting around, there are trenches made available to reach pesky snipers before they find you. It can be difficult to spot enemies in this map because of all the different colored leaves and trees, so camouflaging is definitely suggested here, especially if you choose to sprint through the map. I can’t say that I am a huge fan of Liberation, but I could see it being very fun for ground warfare due to the map's size when it becomes available to all through DLC.

When comparing this map to the original maps in the game, it definitely offers up something different. As many know, sniping has changed from MW2 to MW3. Quick-scoping has become a little more difficult, and there just aren’t a lot of camping locations to snipe from. The great thing about Liberation is that it provides that missing piece.

Initially developed by Bandai Namco, it was later scrapped completely and development was shifted back to Retro Studios to start the project over. In the end, Retro has delivered a solid new entry in the series, but one that doesn’t totally capture what originally made the series so compelling.
