Haha, oh Achievements. I used to be somewhat of an achievement whore, even stooping to low depths as to rent Avatar and get the easy 1000. That said i have perfected worthy games since then, like Tales of Vesperia (my most coveted 1000), Transformers: War for Cybertron, and Mass Effect 2. Im working toward completing ME3 but ill get that perfect in due time, I still plan on playing that game over.
The most annoying achievement for me must have been "To Points Unknown" in Tales of Vesperia, where you have to travel 100,000 km. There is no indicator of your progress and it doesnt carry over into new game plus. Not to mention, by completing the 60 hour game, you only travel a fraction of that distance so many long nights were dedicated to getting that one. It was satisfying, but i hated trying to get that one.
Stupidest achievement was in Prince of Persia, forgotten sands where you get points for turning down the difficulty. I didnt get why they would reward that, but eh.
Hardest, but most satisfying was beating God of War 3 on titan...the Scorpion and Zeus were friggin terrifyin on that difficulty, but i made it through.
One of the most memorable achievements for me was in Prince of Persia 2008 where you get an achievement for simply holding Elika in your arms for a minute. It was simple, but touching at the same time. That game is terribly underrated...
Anyway, thats my 2 cents, at least what i can remember of it. theres def. more achievement stories from me, but you get the point. I agree for the most part though, achievements are cool. They help players get the most out of games they enjoy. Only playing games for achievements is kind of shallow, but it does happen at times. Nowadays, i only strive if i like the game enough, since time is more scarse than it was a few years back. Anyway, im off to play The Last Story...
