PB & Jason Issue 117: Dead Space City 13

EA has made quite a few headlines this past week, but none of them are all that positive.

That's right, EA gets a lot of attention in this week's PB & Jason. Why? Well, for starters, SimCity has always-on DRM that's preventing a lot of people from playing the game. Beyond that, rumors of an unsuccessful Dead Space 3 & the cancellation of a Dead Space 4 has drawn ire, whether these rumors are true or not! On top of all this, we've got a couple user blogs focused, some discussion on in-game promotions of some video game media outlets, a special mention of Epic Mickey for some of my favorite listeners, Japanese eShop rules, and a lot of talk about the upcoming Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate community event. PB & Jason is recorded in front of a live studio audience every Wednesday, weather permitting. Click through for listening and download links!

As always, you can email me with jason@pixlbit.com to be featured in an upcoming issue of PB & Jason!

I'm just going to leave this here about Origin customer service regarding SimCity.

Nice. Or the opposite, really. They issue a press release saying they'll offer refunds for people unhappy with the state of the game. Then, whenever people go and ask for one, they say it's only specific circumstances, without listing said circumstances. Hooray!

EA.....eat maggot infested turds and die! (I'd offer up a more mature well thought out comment to EA if they were actually worthy of it!)

As I said on someone's 1up blog about it, I hadn't even thought of that as a reason to hate DL-Only games, but it's an obvious reason, and now I have another one. No physical copies is stupid. And holy shit that customer service text Greenman posted. Wow.

My major in college was radio/TV, and there actually were quite a few radio jobs in Houston, TX I applied to through Clear Channel and another company, but despite graduating Magna Cum Laude and having been a DJ at my college station, which broadcast to two cities (KSAU, Nacogdoches, Lufkin), I didn't get shit. I was a Psychology minor though, and am still considering higher education there. Did not know we had that in common.

SimCity, I believe there is some form of asynchronous multiplayer component embedded in the core gameplay, thus the need for always-online servers. There's something about sharing resources between cities that your friends build or managing assets from different cities or something. This has been a large complaint against the game and a main reason why many reviewers have lowered their overall score. I have to look into buying this game, as soon after all those login issues decrease.
