Nerds Without Pants Special: NWP XIII vs Nomura

Here we go again!

What? Another special edition of Nerds Without Pants? You lucky ducks! This time, Angelo joins Julian for a look at what Nintendo had to show off, as well as a bunch of other stuff that you'll want to hear.

Angelo gives his thoughts on what was shown yesterday, and voices his caution and concerns for both the Xbox One and the PS4. He brings up some great points, but Julian is still gung ho on his PS4 preorder, but admits that Nintendo showed off some amazing games at their Nintendo Direct. Both of the guys think Mega Man is cute, secretly want to be Cat Mario, and fantasize about owning a Kuribo's Shoe.

Then Angelo stirs the pot by bringing up Final Fantasy XV nee Versus XIII. He didn't listen to yesterday's special, which means you get to listen to Julian rant once again about his issues with the newly christened FF game and his hatred for Tetsuya Nomura's designs. To quote the tenth Doctor: "I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry."

Either Microsoft is going to fail completely, or the xbox one will evolve into a more compelling piece of hardware. Right now it is not what I am looking for in my video game entertainment system. So, I could definitely see myself getting an xbox one a couple of years down the road.

I have never played Mirror's Edge, and always regretted it. So, I will most likely get the new one day one, or shortly after. I tried to play BG&E when it got an HD release, but got fed up fairly quickly.

They say that you should always sit on big purchases for at least 24 hrs. It is over 24 hrs since I pre-ordered a ps4, and I am still really excited for it. Just having trouble with the launch titles... what should I get first.

I'm right there with you. Feeling really good about this, and super excited, as well.

As far as launch titles, I know I'm getting 2 games for sure, which will most likely be Watch_Dogs and Knack. If I get a third game, it may be Killzone, or possibly a third party game that I haven't looked at yet. Still quite some time before we get the official launch lineup.

Here's a few thoughts I didn't manage to get into the show:

1) Destiny looks amazing and, should I jump ship to Sony, which is looking very likely, I think it will scratch the HALO itch just fine.

2) Here's something nobody is talking about, but I feel is important: There's a problem with trying to attract a new audience using sequels to well rooted franchises, especially considering the lack of previous gen compatibility. For example, Killzone might be pretty fun, but how am I supposed to be excited about jumping into the games without being able to play any of the earlier titles? Makes no sense!

I think there was something else I wanted to say, but I forget it now. Anyway, yeah, despite me playing Devil's Advocate for MS, I'll probably end up with a PS4 unless something weird happens, like the console is shown to have an extremely high failure rate.
