The Elder Scrolls Forge: Texture & Lighting for Skyrim

Welcome to The Elder Scrolls Forge! An ongoing, episodic feature that showcases the coolest mods for The Elder Scrolls Anthology.

BLEAK ENB - UNBLEAK ENB by akiro

Whether you're going for a high-contrast, de-saturated cinematic look, or a warm, vibrant aesthetic, BLEAK ENB or UNBLEAK ENB offer some truly bad-ass visuals. BLEAK ENB perfectly captures the cold, foreboding atmosphere of the nether reaches of Skyrim, and is astounding to behold in all of its gothic glory, especially when coupled with mods such as zzjay's Women of Skyrim and your favorite skin re-texture mod.

So that does it for our first edition of The Elder Scrolls Forge. What did you guys and gals think of the mods showcased? Remember, this is only the first feature, with lots of awesome stuff to come. Do you have a particular mod that should be highlighted, or a specific mod criteria you'd like to see featured in an upcoming feature? Then 'Shout' at the comments section!

Until next time, Oblivion walkers!

This is an awesome feature! I want to see screen shots of all of the Skyrim mods. They are the most powerful argument for me to get back into PC gaming. Improved water, depth of field, sharpness, how cool is it to take a great game and make it look even better? That Bleak ENB mod makes Skyrim look like a Souls game. I love it!

Thank you - Glad you enjoyed the feature! I am also a big fan of BLEAK ENB, and I never made that connection - it does give it a very Dark Souls feel. I'm always on the lookout for cool mods, and now this ongoing feature gives me even more of a reason :)

Thanks for commenting, and definitely keep your eyes peeled for future episodes!

Couldn't help but look at these again. BLEAK ENB! Love that look.

Glad you checked them out again! And I agree, that BLEAK ENB is just too bad-ass for words!!

I was in a Santuary dungeon in Oblivion the other day and it looked quite goth. Everything was almost monochrome and gloomy. I was surrounded with smooth walls and grotesque depressions full of holes for spikes and gas emitting plugs in the floor. Not as wickedly Gothic as Bleak ENB for Skyrim, but still... Elder Scrolls games have some naturally occuring Sturm und Drang I'm finding.

Elder Scrolls games definitely do have their Gothic moments, especially the Soul Cairn in the Dawnguard DLC - I explored that place for hours! I would definitely like to see more realm exploration going forward in TES.

And there will definitely be some cool stuff being featured for Oblivion in The Elder Scrolls Forge soon Cool
