PB & Jason Issue 129: [Citation Needed]

Listen to a podcast where generalizations are made about the people who pre-order new video game consoles.

In this issue of PB & Jason, we have Pokémon X & Y, a weirdly-worded Joystiq story, potentially low Xbox One and PS4 console pre-order sales, and an inferred reason for the delay of Ubisoft's Watch_Dogs. My biggest reservation are the potential price hikes of a new generation. Reputedly games are going to be more expensive (The 59.99 price point will probably go up) and as someone who has to save money a few months before being able to afford a console,I prefer to wait for them to have larger game libraries and a slight decrease of their initial price point.

So far not many of the "next gen titles" are wowing me "more" than the current titles. That's another reason for my hesitation I guess.

If you buy into PlayStation Plus, that's an option. Not a great one, because you lose everything if you unsubscribe, but it's still an option.

I think Sony and Microsoft both know the "Wow" isn't going to be in the graphics. They want the infrastructure, the social engineering, and their back-end stuff to sell the consoles. Except you can't advertise those features. You can't show those off, I know. I suspect Microsoft and Sony expect these benefits to grow apparent to the end-user.

I have a few questions about that: Will the end-user be aware of these features? How long will it take?

I do expect to be impressed with the new infrastructures! (Online features as well as improved ways we communicate) If I wasn't so anti-social, it would be reason for excitement,Jas. Tongue Out

In Memory of Michael Alvarado

When 1up started the process of shutting down, there was one person who seemed to lead to charge to congregate the community in a single place. After his first visit here, it wasn't long before a slew of new members arrived. The site came alive and the real story of PixlBit began - the one that involves all of you. The person I'm referring to is, of course, Michael Alvarado, otherwise known as Michael117.
