A neat idea, but that sure isn't going to carry this experience.

"Set across three defining eras from 20 years of Sonic the Hedgehog video game history, the instantly recognizable environments of Sonic Generations have been re-built in stunning HD and are now playable in both classic side scrolling 2D from 1991, as well as modern 3D style found in Sonic’s most recent adventures." - Sega press release.

The game is due out in "Holiday 2011" on the 360 and PS3. No Wii, 3DS, or NGP version as far as I can tell.

The story involves a "New Power" creating time holes across the land, hence the advent of Classic and Modern Sonic meeting.

Anyway, seeing super-zoomed out video in the trailer above, and what I think looks like some heavy classic Sonic momentum loss where Sonic otherwise would have maintained a bit of speed, this trailer does little to excite me about the game, unfortunately.

Seriously, does anyone have any idea why this is a PS3/360 exclusive? I mean, the only reason I can think of, given all these upcoming Nintendo console rumors, is that the title will be ported to that for its launch, so there's no point in porting the game to the Wii. Anyone else have a thought about it?
