I'm curious what about the filmmaking exercise made no sense to Mike? I realize most of what I'm talking about would be hashed out in pre-production rather than out in the field. This scenario is not meant to be a 1:1 for how video production is actually done. Is that what you mean, Mike? As someone in the same field as you, I'm a little confused by your confusion?

Anyway, great podcast so far. I've had a lot to say so far, but I deleted it, cause I don't like having one GIANT comment that's mine and everyone else looks like a sane person.

Coming back for the rest. I'll definitely have to think of some AMA questions.

Could not agree more with NES Metroid being garbage in the modern day. Could not disagree more with slowing down in Mega Man games. I've pointed this out to people before, but I usually do much better in those games when I keep a certain ryhtm. That rythm isn't speed runner fast, but it's definitely not me thinking about my jumps much. Having said that, I've always beaten every Robot Master but never beaten a Wily Castle. Maybe I'd change my tune for the castle levels. I've just never felt like doing them for whatever reason.

I'm on Julian's side when it comes to quittin'. Most things in life just ain't worth doin'. Quit, Julian! For everlasting peace!

I need physical game rental stores to come back ... GameFly is a good service ... when you get the game you actually want and not your 7th pick all the time. That's all I can think of with this talk of buying games.

The PlayStation Classic library feels like a joke from trolls flooding any online polls where Sony asked what should be on it.

Yeah, I bought SNES Classic because I wasn't the one who owned the Super Nintendo back in the day, don't own current consoles where I could access those games, don't really feel like the hassle of doing things legitimately retro by buying separate cartridges, and that would have been my reason for picking up a PlayStation classic as well, were the library decent.

Is the Super Meat Boy guy game a remake of Beat 'Em and Eat 'Em on Atari? I remember reading about that one in an EGM special cover story about graphically sexual games. I think maybe Seanbaby wrote it?

Yu-Gi Oh is great and anyone saying otherwise is a terrorist. I'm not going to staranus.com specifically because I heard that bullshit opinion. I'll be back with my AMA questions, assuming I'm in a good enough mood after hearing that garbage.

My desert island game would probably end up being The Witcher III.  It would give me a reason to finally start it.

First Question.  What does Patrick drink?

Second Question.  Fuck Marry Kill.  Jill Valentine, Samus Aran, Chun-Li

Third Question:  Desert Island Game.  Just one, no runner ups or honorable mentions.

Fourth Question:  What would the ideal sequel to your favorite gaming franchise look like?

Fifth Question:  what does Julian think about Tabata leaving Square?  I feel like Julian could have a lot to say about this...  or nothing at all.

Dearest Julian,

We have only just begun to scratch the surface of Samm's hot takes on everything. Stay tuned.

Sincerely,

Justin

Also this was quite possibly the funniest episode of the show ever. At least that I can remember. Although I did feel sorry for Patrick and plan to console him soon.

I was begining to think Mike was a big mistake for Patrick's sake.   It felt like zing after zing after zing.

After Angelo left, Patrick suggested Mike as his replacement, and I told him that Mike would end up treating him like Deepu if he was a regular part of the show...

I am starting to feel a little bad that I ever thought Patrick was a little much...  I still think he is, but compared to Mike,,,  ....  well, I don't even know what to say

I have thoughts. But instead of those thoughts, what I want to write here is ... what is Deepu? All I get with a Google is an Indian singer with that stage name. It sounds like weeabo terminology. Am I on the right track? I guess that can count as my first AMA question.

How much difference is there between what you believe to be the greatest game of all time in an "objective" sense and your favorite game of all time? E.g., I know Citizen Kane is supposedly the greatest movie of all time and I can objectively appreciate and recognize why, but the comparatively artistically bankrupt Chasing Amy is way higher on my list of personal favorites because of how entertains me, personally. Do you find this to be true of video games you enjoy as well, or do your favorite games tend to be the ones most people would readily accept on "greatest of all time" lists?

What is your favorite gaming controller of all time?

Are there any genres of games you used to not be able to stand that you've since come around on, or vice versa (genres you loved but have grown weary of over time)?

In either raw numbers or percent, how many NWP podcasts have you been legitimately pantless for? Like, no sleeping pants, no shorts, nothing except underwear?

Finally, do you think your gaming habits have hurt, helped, or had little to no effect on your life overall?

Find the Hackthought Podcast, then listen to The Sandwich Saga Condiment Episode, Deepu Edition. You will then learn all you need to know about Deepu. Also hoping to have him on episode 143.

Great podcast guys. I think Mike did a great job. I'm all in for an AMA. Let's see...

Stage Select: AMA

1. If you could be considered amongst the best of any job/profession/hobby, what would it be? Speed Runner? Actual Runner? Doctor? Wrestler? Hot Dog eating?

2. Would you accept a million dollars if you had to use a random porta-potty each time you had to use the bathroom for the rest of your life? Maybe its clean, maybe there's toilet paper, or maybe its filled to the top.

3. Who wins between Devil May Crys Dante and God or Wars Kratos?

4. What game would you make the other hosts play if you wanted to torture them? They have to play for 100 hours minimum and see the credits roll before they can be unchained.

5. Who's the strongest fighting game character do you think you could take 1 on 1?

6. Is Tom Nook really evil?

I'll be honest. I was not a fan of Mike after you had him on the first time. But this time? I was so happy that someone was finally calling Patrick on his steady stream of nutty BS. Bravo, Mike. I raise a copy of Gauntlet IV in your honor, sir.

AMA

There have been a couple times in the last few years, Julian, when you've come away from a game with serious complaints whereas I played the same game without any major issues. The one that comes most readily to mind is Super Mario Odyssey. The camera basically ruined the game for you but I had little to no trouble with it. But that got me wondering what game do you think has done a 3D camera the best or is this a nut the game industry has yet to crack?

What notoriously long game do you wish was a manageable 20 hours?

What game in your backlog are you most ashamed for not having played yet?

What retro game would you like to see come back but is not currently available on any modern collection or service?

Favorite cheese?

And now to see if my comments get mysteriously overlooked again lol. Fingers crossed!
