Jon Lewis' Memories

Despite the fact that Nintendo stands as the company that changed my view on gaming, I grew up on a Sega Genesis. Naturally, one of the first games that I had was Sonic 2, and I played the heck out of it. I was never any good, and I don't think I got farther than Act 3 (as a young kid I wasn't much of a gamer) but I played those first few levels a ton. I spent most of my time playing the multiplayer and mini-games with my younger brother and while it wasn't the point of Sonic 2, some of my fondest memories come from it. Of course, one of my favorite levels (and songs) come from the Chemical Plant Zone, which I'm glad is being represented in Generations by the way.

Years later, I got on the Nintendo bandwagon and eventually owned a Nintendo Gamecube, and knowing how much I loved Sonic, my brother and I got Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. I was a huge fan of the running levels and despite the tedious parts of the game, it grew to be one of my early Gamecube favorites. My brother I recall was extremely fond of the Chao Garden, and even my sister was addicted to that small portion of the game.

Despite his hits and misses, Sonic has always found his way into my life, for better or worse. Thankfully as of late, it's all been for the better.

Was I the only one who was able to play both Sonic and Mario games in the '90s, shamelessly and without interpersonal conflict?
