Batman (New 52): While a lot of DC fans have swore off reading anything about the new 52, mostly because DC discontinued most of their history lines and rebooted all their main '52' comics starting with #1 issues for newbies (get away you filthy casuals) , I still find alot of enjoyment out of reading the main Batman comic particularly because it is being written by Scott Snyder and art work by Greg Capullo, and together they've done a good job of making Batman feel fresh while still adding new material to the series.

I've always been a detective fan, though it got better during the new 52, it's not the same. I still prefer Snyders Detective run, I've met him, he's a nice guySmile

You mean 'The Black Mirror'? I have the hardcover book. Cool

What's everyone reading at the moment? As I mentioned in my blog today, I'm working my way through the first trade paperback of "Fatale" by Ed Brubaker. Artist is Sean Phillips. Really enjoying it so far.

my brother bought me two trades for xmas, but I haven't gotten to them yet:

Superman: Earth One, by JMS,

and Legends of the Dark Knight by i don't know who.  I should really read them, and maybe i will today.

I saw that the Planetary omnibus is out soon or is out, and I'm going to have to splurge and get that.  That's one of my favorite comics of the past decade or so.

I have Superman: Earth One. I thought it was alright. Artwork was awesome but the story was kinda meh for me. Let me know what you think when you get around to it. Also, if you watched the show Dexter at all, you'll spot something kinda funny

Just started Harley Quinn: Preludes and Knock-Knock Jokes trade. It's great! This is the first 7 issues of the 38 issue run by Karl Kesel, Terry Dodson et. al. back in 2001-3. I didn't know this existed. Three trades have been released so far covering, I think, through issue 28. The third trade came out this week, but I'm trying to read them in order, buying one a week until I catch up.

Met Peter David ad John Layman on Monday, got my Spider-man, Detective, Chew and other stuff signed.

Nice blokes, Peter tld me sometime on the weekend (London Super Comic-con) someone asked him to sign the new testament (he's Jewish) and Layman said there'll be a new Chew special on Poyo (the robot chicken of the series).

Good day

I read Moon Knight (2014) Vol. 1 over the past couple nights. Really enjoyed it, kind of had a Sherlock-ish vibe to it, mixed up with Marvel style. Looking forward to Vol. 2 which I think is due in a week or two.

I just saw this trailer last week in the theaters. Hilarious! I want to see it for sure. I'm curious about the comics too. I might check them out on a slow week. Are they humerous like the trailer suggests?

I have all of these trades now. Almost done reading Preludes. These all together collect issues 1-25 of the 38 issue run from 2001-3. That should be two more trades to come and I will be getting them for sure.

Not neccessarily, it has a good amount of levity but it's very much a Space opera in the vein of Farscape or Firefly.

Just read Star Wars 16 by Brian Wood. So good. I almost didn't pick it up thinking, "ah, Star Wars, big deal", but I'm glad I did. Brian Wood is doing a great job, telling a great story that really doesn't need Star Wars to be good. I'll continue to read this ongoing series for sure.

This week's haul. Read Silver Surfer 2 and Umbral 6 at lunch. Both were excellent. I was on the fence about continuing with Silver Surfer, but I'm glad I did. That's King Conan The Conqueror #3 up there without titles. That's EGOs 4 and a new Atomic Robo series called The Knights of the Golden Circle. I'm so excited for that. I love the Atomic Robo comics.

Figured now would be a good time to get into the regular Spiderman. I went through Ultimate from start to finish a while ago and have had a Spidey shaped void ever since. And the aftermath of Superior is pretty damn interesting.

@ Epic Greenman: My favorite Spiderman was Spiderman Fever by Brendan McCarthy. Spiderman is taken to a bizarre dimension by some demons and Dr. Strange has to rescue him. The art style was very psychedelic.

Just saw this comic by video game Maniac Mansion co-designer Gary Winnick the other day called Bad Dreams. I'm going to look for it on Wednesday.

I picked up Original Sin #1 today and Bad Dreams #1. Number 2 was out for BD, but I always like to start at the beginning. What's up with the $4.99 price on the Original Sin issues? I've considered switching to buying trades only 'cause it's cheaper, but I still like single issues better. Original Sin 1 revealed Dr. Strange's role in this story. It's the reason I'm reading this. I also picked up a free rubber eye that you get with buying Original Sin. Put it in my car to scare passengers. . . or intrigue them. It goes next to my McDonalds micro Xbox system toy and my Darth Maul 3D glasses I got at the rerelease of Phantom Menace in 3D.

Got Wasteland #54 and Star Wars #17 this week. Wasteland is finally coming to the end of it's long run and revealing the whole reason behind why Earth was turned into a desert. The explanation is just getting weirder. I'm still not sure where it's going. This Star Wars issue is the best yet. Things go sideways as Leia is ready to marry the Prince of this remote world. The art is gorgeous and Brian Wood is doing great stuff with the story. I hope the upcomming movie is this good.

The first trade paperback for Coffin Hill arrived at my door from Amazon today. I've been waiting quite a while for this to finally be released. Anyone read this?

Got Original Sin #2 and Harley Quinn #6 today. I'm following Original Sin for Dr. Strange and this issue had two whole pages with him and The Punisher in some alternate dimension looking for The Watcher's killer. I noticed Strange is on the cover of Avengers #29 this month in a cross-over story, so I'll get that next week. Harley Quinn is written with lots of jokes and is kinda silly like The Tick or Freshmen. I'm not sure I like that, but it's ok. This issue ended a particular story arc, so maybe the next one will take on a little more serious tone. I'm loving the HQ Kesel/Dodson trades and that does a great job balancing humor with a serious story.

I picked up a large amount of comics this week: Massive #23, Mass Effect: Foundation #11, FUSE #4, King Conan: The Conqueror #4, and  Avengers #29 (an Original Sin crossover issue with Dr. Strange on the cover, how could I resist that). I also saw this trade called Black Science by Rick Remender. I had to resist it or go broke, but I really wanted it. Also saw an advert for a new series called Deep Gravity. It looks very scifi, so I may start following it.

bsdg Left: Black Science. Right: Deep Gravity.
