Super Meat Boy Canned on WiiWare, Retail Release Unlikely

The recently released multiplatform title will no longer be making its way to the platform it was first announced for.

Yesterday, it was announced by Team Meat that they will be cancelling the WiiWare release of Super Meat Boy. By the end of development of the game, they were already concerned that the title wouldn't be able to be compressed down to the strict 40MB size restriction of the system.

Team Meat Adds Super Tofu Boy to PC Version of Super Meat Boy

The newest Super Meat Boy character lacks protein, abilities.

In response to PETA's Super Tofu Boy Super Meat Boy parody game, Team Meat decided to incorporate Tofu Boy into their Steam PC version of Super Meat Boy.

Super Meat Boy Review

One of the most finely crafted games of this generation.

Since the birth of the downloadable platform this generation, we have seen many great games; however, very few have managed to surpass being a cheap, quick thrill and achieve true greatness. A couple of years back I had the opportunity to review World of Goo, and I walked away utterly stunned by the experience. Today, I'm here to say that such an experience is once again available to the gaming world in Super Meat Boy. The simple platformer is so amazing in its execution, that it's absolutely irresistible.

Super Meat Boy Preview

There's not much that can be said about Super Meat Boy that fans and gamers interested in the title don't already know.

While I, personally, didn't receive hands-on time with the game, I can say it looks like it'll play a lot like the flash-based version of the game plays. That means quick, reflexive platforming, wall-cling-jumping, and lots of blood every time Meat Boy dies. New features include instant replays of every attempt to complete the stage all at once, a newer, sharper, sleeker art direction for Meat Boy and the gang that looks great and fluid in action, and even boss stages, though I didn't get to see any in action.
