A Sequel to Psychonauts May Be On the Way

Schafer's ready to go, now he just needs a publisher.

There is reason for excitement among fans of Psychonauts when Tim Schafer, creator of Grim Fandango and Brutal Legend, revealed yesterday he was "ready and willing" to finally make a sequel to his cult hit.

Schafer, creative mind behind the title, divulged this information in an interview with CVG where he went on to discuss that in order to proceed with the project, he must first find an interested publisher.

Despite the title being well-received among critics during its initial release in 2005, its first year sales added up to a meager 100,000 copies sold. However, Schafer explains that in recent years, the sales figures of Psychonauts have greatly increased, due mostly in part to word of mouth as well as "being two dollars on Steam for a while, and being pirated."

Considering the large increase in interest for Psychonauts in recent times, Schafer speculates that the sequel will "be a big hit" if the same number of gamers purchase it.

I never got around to playing it either. I guess I have no excuse considering it's availability on Steam.

*wipes away tears of joy*

I say we host a charity PlayBit to raise money for the project.

For those of you with a 360 and a Live account, the game is available for download under X-Box Originals. Playing it, and loving it... aside from Raz's coat turned blue for some reason and the slowdown that sometimes happens when Majesco's logo appears.
