The follow-up to Homecoming will be known as Downpour.
Today, Konami revealed the official title for their upcoming title, Silent Hill 8. Known now as Silent Hill: Downpour, the game will bring players back to the town of Silent Hill with an all new storyline and characters. Coming on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the game will be available at an unspecified date this fall.
This time around, players will take control of Murphy Pendleton who finds himself lost in the woods after his prison transport bus crashes near Silent Hill. Showcased in the screenshots below are two new environments from the game, known as The Diner and The Devil's Pit.
After losing Akira Yamaoka to Grasshopper Manufacture, Konami has announced that Daniel Licht, composer for Showtime's hit TV series, Dexter, will be responsible for the soundtrack of Downpour. A 90 second sample of his work from Silent Hill: Downpour can be found on the Konami website.

Silent Hill 8 Officially Named Silent Hill: Downpour
KONAMI, today released the first screenshots and music from the highly anticipated survival horror game, Silent Hill: Downpour. Making its return to "next generation" consoles this fall, Silent Hill: Downpour will bring a completely original storyline, and all-new haunting soundtrack as players find themselves stranded in the foggy, malevolent world of Silent Hill.
Silent Hill: Downpour starts as Murphy Pendleton, the game's main character, finds himself lost and alone in the woods after his prison transport bus crashes near the town of Silent Hill. What happens after is up to the player as they traverse an all-new Silent Hill environment that is expansive, yet claustrophobic. And though this sleepy town may feel desolate, the player is never truly alone.
Screenshots show highly detailed environments of the new Silent Hill, where seedy pasts and uncertain futures unify to create to a terrifying present. Included within is a sneak preview of the town, as well as two all-new environments: The Diner and The Devil's Pit.
Also released today is a ninety second sample of in-game music that is composed by Daniel Licht -- Silent Hill: Downpour's Music Composer -- who also scores the music for the hit Showtime series, "Dexter".
Silent Hill: Downpour is scheduled to be released in fall 2011 on Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system.
