Nintendo Shareholders Meeting Reveals 2011 Wii Plans

Yesterday, Nintendo mentioned an entirely new title, revived one some believed was dead, and reaffirmed development of a third.

As you can see in the videos preceding this news story, Nintendo showed off a handful of new Wii titles at an investor's meeting yesterday. Rhythm Heaven and the long-developed Kirby Wii game were two titles previously announced by Nintendo showcased at the event. When speaking of the Kirby title, Iwata apologized for its delay. Gameplay seems to be altered some from prior videos released, showing a lone Kirby without the created buddies or totem poles showcased in previously released screenshots and videos. Rhythm Heaven's video shows the game maintains it's quirky themes and simple-styled gameplay, but at this time, not much more is known about either game.

A surprise announcement was also made, featuring Tower of Pandora, a new Wii title due out in the first half of this year in Japan. Nintendo said the the game's development is nearly complete. Currently, there is no word on whether Tower of Pandora or the other two titles are to be released outside of Japan, though it is likely that given past franchise successes of Kirby and Rhythm Heaven, those two titles will make it overseas.

I'm surprised about the Kirby game announcement, but when's more Skyward Sword info going to be released...

There was slight mention of Skyward Sword, too. Apparently the game is near the end of development, and should be released this year, at least in Japan. Expect OoT 3D out first, though.

That Kirby game is basically Nintendo's Duke Nukem Forever.

Kirby's Epic Yarn is the only Kirby game the Wii needs.

Sorry Hal Labs, you can't beat a rotten horse carcass lying dead since the the Gamecube's last year alive.

So I'm wondering how far back Skyward Sword will be held after Ocarina 3D. All of these titles seem to be first half of the year releases which leaves the Fall-Winter-Holiday slots wide open. What comes then will surely depend on if the Wii2 is revealed and/or released this year. Though I'm thinking this will be the year of the 3DS and Wii's final holiday with only a next gen reveal this year.
