New South Park Game Coming to XBLA

Take on Scott Tenorman and his evil gingers next year.

The second South Park game for XBLA has finally been revealed. This will be the final part of the exclusive deal between Microsoft and South Park Digital Studios that was unveiled two years ago. The first game, South Park: Let’s Go Tower Defense Play! had a decent showing among reviewers, with a Metacritic of 72. While that game featured Stan, Kenny, Cartman, and Kyle in a tower defense setting, the new game is something much, much different.

Titled South Park: Tenorman’s Revenge, the game is a platformer that comes straight from the TV screen of recent episodes. Longtime fans may remember Scott Tenorman, the teen that sold Cartman his pubes. Cartman, naturally, had Scott’s parents killed and fed them to him in a bowl of chili. The character was shown a couple more times briefly, but it wasn’t until episode 201 that Scott revealed himself to be Cartman’s arch nemesis.

Players will control the boys as they battle Tenorman and his army of evil ginger kids who, as we all know, have no souls. The game is said to have up to 4 player co-op in both offline and online modes, but it is unclear at this time if this is part of the main game or a separate scenario. Other Ocean Interactive is doing the work on Tenorman's Revenge. They do a lot of licensed games, most recently X-Men:Destiny for the DS. It should be noted that they also worked on the special DSiware Dark Void game, which got a little bit of buzz around the game's release for its nostalgic gameplay.

There will be a panel at this weekend’s New York City Comic Convention, where more information will be made available. We will let you know all the details as we get them. For now, expect to deal with Tenorman’s Revenge in spring of 2012.

Very excited for this one. The last game has held up well with a group of 4 playing together and I'm hoping this is similar.
