Sony Releases New Owner's Kit

Accessory bundle includes a Dual Shock 3 Controller, HDMI and USB cable.

Sony continues to help introduce gamers to high definition gaming by releasing a new accessory bundle to accompany their new console. Gamers can now pre-order this bundle, called the New Owner's Kit. It will include a Dual Shock 3 controller, an HDMI cable for 1080p resolution as well as Blu-Ray support, and a USB cable.

Sony recently dropped the price of the PS3 to $250 for the 160 GB hard drive model and $300 for the 320 GB. These models only include a standard composite cable, which the New Owner's Kit upgrades. The Dual Shock 3 controller on its own retails for $54.99. The New Owner's Kit costs $69.99, meaning it charges $15 for the HDMI and USB cable, boasting a $24 savings, according to the packaging. The bundle will be released on October 25.

this is a good little package for ps3 heads. Usually HDMI cables alone run about 20 bucks

I disagree. PS3 controllers can be found for a little less than their MSRP at this point, and quality HDMI cables can be bought online on the cheap. USB cables are all over the place and very inexpensive. This bundle is more or less a mark-up on the components if the consumer were to buy them separately and intelligently.

Don't believe me? I typed "hdmi" into amazon, and this was the first result.

Save your money folks, and shop smarter. Don't go for this extra-expensive bundle. Some might say it's a matter of convenience to buy this bundle pack, but is convenience worth $20 more in expenses? Not to mention, Amazon.com and other online retailers are pretty convenient, too.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Review

It’s been a long time since we’ve seen an entry in the Metroid Prime series - 18 years, in fact. It was 8 years ago that Metroid Prime 4 was originally announced and its development was more than a little turbulent. Initially developed by Bandai Namco, it was later scrapped completely and development was shifted back to Retro Studios to start the project over. In the end, Retro has delivered a solid new entry in the series, but one that doesn’t totally capture what originally made the series so compelling.
