Scrolls Alpha Sign Up Begins

Face it, even though you don't know what the game is you want to sign up for this anyway.

Mojang’s upcoming game Scrolls has been in the gaming news quite a bit lately. Most recently the Minecraft creator won an interim injunction against ZeniMax and Bethesda concerning rights to the name Scrolls. While the legal battle is likely far from over, this little victory is an important one as Mojang can now more freely market and talk about the game. Perhaps he'll even tell us a little more about this Alpha signup that just went up.

The Scrolls website, which has now officially gone live, doesn’t really offer much in the way of useful information. There is a short synopsis of the game that alludes to it being some kind of amalgamation of the collectible card and RTS genres. There is also a blurb from lead designer, Jakob Porser, who expresses how Scrolls has been a long time coming.

Most importantly, there is a little field at the bottom of the page where you can sign up for the upcoming alpha. No other details are available, including when the alpha will launch and what the scale will be.

Scrolls is expected to launch sometime next year and will be on PC.

In the end, Retro has delivered a solid new entry in the series, but one that doesn’t totally capture what originally made the series so compelling.
