HD re-releases of older games are all the rage these days. This year has already seen the releases of HD versions for Resident Evil 4, Street Fighter 3: Third Strike, and a collection of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, just to name a few. That’s not going to stop anytime soon, either; collections for Silent Hill, Zone of the Enders, and Devil May Cry are all in the works. Arguably one of the highest profile collections on the horizon is Metal Gear Solid, and today Konami announced when you’ll be able to get your hands on shiny new versions of some of Hideo Kojima’s most popular games.

You won’t have to wait long at all. November 8^th is the day that the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will be on store shelves for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The normal edition carries a suggested retail price of 49.99, but the Limited Edition will run you 89.99. That’s if you live in North America, however. Those of you gamers in Europe hungry for some Snake in HD will have to wait until February 3^rd, 2012. But hey, if you buy the Ultimate HD Collection (no word on a U.S. release for that) you’ll get a download code for the first MGS game on the PSN store, as well as Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Er, that’s for PS3 owners, obviously.

So for those of you out there in the mood for a sneaking mission, this collection of five Metal Gear games (you’ll get the MSX versions of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2, also) will be available just in time for that holiday shopping list.
