Lego Universe Shutting Down

The Lego based MMO is ending after a little over a year.

The Lego group has announced that Lego Universe will be closing its doors on January 31, 2012. The MMO developed by Play Well Studios has around two million subscribers but has failed to reach enough revenue to make it profitable. This shut down comes after the title was released 15 months ago. The 115 people who work on the game will be laid off come the 2012 end date.

Jesper Vilstrup, a Lego Group executive, was quoted in saying "The Lego Universe team can take pride in having developed and launched a great Lego experience that many players will miss." Lego Universe was released for the PC and Mac on October 26, 2010.
