Total War: Shogun 2 Expansion On The Way

This standalone expansion will introduce other countries into the fray.

Total War: Shogun 2 was a standout title in the long running Total War franchise that revitalized the series in the eyes of many gamers. Its merits include a score of 4 out of 5 stars and financial success, with 600,000 copies sold after just a few weeks on the market. After the release of Rise of the Samurai, the second expansion, Fall of the Samurai is planned for release in March of 2012.

This expansion, unlike Rise of the Samurai, will be a standalone expansion and will be set during the last Shogunate in 19th century Japan, 400 years after the base game. More modern weapons from America, Britain, and France will be introduced.

Fall of the Samurai will introduce six new clans while civil war breaks out between the Imperial throne and the last Shogunate. New features for the siege battle mechanics, new land and sea unit interactions, and a revamped multiplayer called Multiplayer 2.0 will also be included in the expansion.

Pricing has not been announced, but Rise of the Samurai retailed for $10.
