Final Fantasy XIII-2 Demo On The Way

Next week you'll be able to get a taste of the sequel to 2010's most controversial RPG.

The Final Fantasy XIII-2 demo will be hitting Xbox Live and PSN next week. North American PSN users will get the demo on January 10 and Xbox Live users will see it a day later on January 11. The full game releases about two weeks later on January 31, so this gives gamers plenty of time to test it out.

Also, be sure to check back next week as we'll be hosting a PlayBit of the demo so you can see the game in action, along with some audio commentary. We'll also be releasing a primer on the game, so stay tuned for more.

I miss the days when a demo for a new FF game was a huge deal. How many people (myself included) bought Tobal No. 1 and popped in the demo for VII before doing anything else?

Me too. It's actually on a list I'm working on of games that get way more hate than they rightfully earned. I also have a very cheese ball sense of humor though.

Musashi gets hate? I thought it was fine. Nothing mind-blowing, but fun.

The sequel, however, deserves hatred.

I miss that too. In my opinion, the best time for RPGs was during the PlayStation era. I'll be checking out that demo, though.

It was 8 years ago that Metroid Prime 4 was originally announced and its development was more than a little turbulent. Initially developed by Bandai Namco, it was later scrapped completely and development was shifted back to Retro Studios to start the project over. In the end, Retro has delivered a solid new entry in the series, but one that doesn’t totally capture what originally made the series so compelling.
