More Information About New Super Mario Bros. Wii Revealed

Read about how demo play works, the game's many modes, and more.

With the release of New Super Mario Bros. Wii a little over a month out, there's still a lot of unanswered questions. Luckily, Kotaku uncovered more about the high profile release.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii will consist of eight worlds, with a similar setup to the DS predecessor. Although there's a few twists, such as enemies patrolling the overworld map. Additional missions will require you to go back into previous levels and rescue kidnapped Toads.

Also, there will be multiplayer challenge levels in which players compete in different ways, such as Free For All or Coin Battle.

The much talked about demo mode was also detailed. Players must fail a stage eight times before they can activate the feature. After that, players can watch another character go through the stage on their own until they want to jump in. However, the mode can only be activated at the start of a stage.
