The PSN Boss Has Left the Building

Susan Panico will no longer lead the Playstation Network in North America.

The head of the Playstation Network is no longer a part of Sony Computer Entertainment of America (SCEA). Susan Panico became a part of the company in 1994, and was promoted to Senior Director of Playstation Network in February 2007.

During her 17 years with SCEA, Panico helped Sony’s network grow vastly, now totaling more than 77 million users worldwide. In addition to video games, Panico was part of a workforce that expanded into other areas of multimedia, including collections of movies, TV shows and original content.

Unfortunately, hackers demonstrated Playstation Network's lack of security over the past year. Starting in April, an unprecedented six-week outage enveloped the network entirely. Nevertheless, PSN returned and offered their users two free games from a list of five. After the outage, Guy Longworth had been appointed her boss as the Senior Vice President of marketing and PSN.

Sony has yet to officially comment on who will become Panico’s successor.
