Aion Going Free-to-Play

The 3.0 Update brings a new business model

NCsoft's MMO Aion is going free-to-play this Spring. Although already announced in Europe, this is news to American players. The upcoming 3.0 update, entitled Aion Ascension, will introduce the new business model. The free-to-play model won't limit the areas players can visit or classes available, unlike most free MMOs.

The update also includes new mounts, six new instances, a new raid, a new zone, a player-housing system and a level cap increase. Those who buy the game now will receive Veteran rewards that are outlined on the Aion homepage.
