Kickstart Leisure Suit Larry Today

The latest game with a Kickstarter campaign is Larry Laffer himself!

About six months ago, Replay Games announced an HD remake of the first Leisure Suit Larry game, Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards, along with plans to remake the sequels at a later time. Since then, not much has been heard about the remake, until today. Larry Laffer's comeback will now be backed with a Kickstarter campaign.

With help from Al Lowe, the creator of the original Leisure Suit Larry games, Replay Games is pushing to give gamers a "return to the one true Larry." If they reach their goal of $500,000 by May 2, 2012, gamers can look forward to a remake of the original title for iOS and PC.

If you contribute, a plethora of items can be yours, including a copy of the game for $15 or lunch with Al Lowe himself for $10,000. If the fundraiser should surpass the intended goal, the extra money will go towards translating the game in other languages, porting it to other platforms, and creating add-ons like an orchestral soundtrack.

The Kickstarter campaign lists the following as features players can expect in the proposed game:

  • The freedom to play on mobile devices
  • A modern point-and-click/touchscreen interface
  • Updated, ultra-high res graphics
  • Fully voiced characters
  • Even more of the humor that’s made Al Lowe a household name…like “Borders” and “Enron!"

Now what if they had a bonus where you donate x amount of dollars, you get to date a woman that looks like the women featured in Leisure Suit Larry? The kingdom of Nerdom would break their banks, piggy banks, break legs to people who owe them money for that opportunity.
