Analysts Predict That Beatles: Rock Band Outsold Guitar Hero 5

Both games have met sales expectations in their first month.

The Beatles: Rock Band reportedly sold between 1 million and 1.3 million copies compared to Guitar Hero 5's 700,000 to 800,000 copies according to Wedbush Morgan Securities' Michael Pachter and Electronic Entertainment Design and Research's Jesse Divnich.

The difference, almost 2-to-1 in Pachter's prediction, isn't as drastic as it sounds.

"While many want to paint a David vs. Goliath scenario (MTV Games vs. Activision), EEDAR feels that scenario presents an unfair comparison and suggests that one must be 'victorious' over the other," Divnich wrote. "That is certainly not the case, as both Guitar Hero 5 and Beatles: Rock Band have both performed at levels ahead of retail expectations."

We'll learn more when the September NPDs hit next week.
