Fist of the North Star Will Release Worldwide

The official announcement of this game sent Koei's stock soaring yesterday.

Fist of the North Star is a popular Japanese manga that was written by Buronson and published in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1983 to 1988. The manga was eventually adapted into two animated television series, several movies, and an OVA (original video animation).

At this years' TGS, Koei released a teaser trailer for a mysterious new game, however many fans quickly realized that the characters depicted in the trailer were those from Fist of the North Star. Yesterday, at a press conference, Koei officially announced the existence of Fist of the North Star Musou, a game that is to feature Dynasty Warriors-like combat using the cast of the famous manga.

This news didn't just excite fans, it also increased Koei Tecmo's stock seventeen percent. The Nihon Keizai Shimbun expects the upcoming title to sell a million copies in Japan alone.

There have been no exact release dates planned for Fist of the North Star Musou, however according the Nihon Keizai Shimbun, the game will also see an American release. Fist of the North Star Musou is currently being developed for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
