Sony Making a Resurgence in Japan

The week's Media Create sales show that the PS3 and PSP sales are both up.

With the recent price drop of the PlayStation 3 and release of the PSPgo, it appears Sony is performing much better in Japan.

Sales of the PlayStation 3 have managed to inch out the Wii this past week of October 5 to October 11. PS3 sales clocked in at 30,896 with the Wii falling just 182 units short at 30,714 sold. The PSP beat both systems selling 40,100 with the DSi besting all at 50,144 units sold.

Since the start of the generation, Nintendo has managed to outsell Sony consistently. The recent changes for Sony has created a much closer competition, hinting that the price point for the PlayStation 3 was most likely prohibitive for Japanese buyers.

With the Christmas shopping season approaching, the PS3 and PSPgo may be performing more competitively with the Wii and DS in America as well.
