I really like the Kingdom Hearts series despite its full-of-itself story. I want this.
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Gets Official Release Date
The Japanese release date is set, but there's still no word on the North American date.
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, an upcoming title in the Kingdom Hearts series, was finally issued a release date today by Square Enix.
The game will be launching for the PSP on January 9, 2010 in Japan, for a price of ¥6,090.
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep is a prequel to the original Kingdom Hearts, taking place a decade beforehand and is intended to clear up certain plot holes, while explaining the events that led up to the happenings in the first game. The game will feature three new main characters: Terra, Ven, and Aqua. The story will revolve around these three characters as they search for their missing Keyblade instructor Master Xehanort and his apprentice, Vanitas. An in-depth preview of the game can be seen in the trailer below.
Differing from the normal Kingdom Hearts formula, Birth by Sleep will be split into three scenarios, one for each of the main characters. Each separate scenario will take players through one of the character's quests to find Xehanort and Vanitas, although all three will occasionally cross paths. Each character's scenario is expected to take players around 15 hours to complete.
Some classic Disney characters will be returning, such as Mickey, Donald, and Goofy, and players will get to meet the young versions of Sora and Riku. Other Disney characters confirmed to make an appearance are Stich (known as Experiment 626), Captain Gantu, Dr. Jumba, Sparky (Experiment 221), Maleficent, Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Tinker Bell, Peter Pan, The Lost Boys, and several others.
While Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep will be releasing early next year in Japan, there has been no definite word confirming a North American release date.
