Final Fantasy XIII Will Not Feature Forced Install

The PS3 game will also have little-to-no loading mid-game.

Final Fantasy XIII is due for release on both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. Coming in just a month and a half to Japan, the title will see its first release on the PS3 this December.

Given the approaching release date, IGN acquired some new information regarding the game. Tetsuya Nomura and Motomu Toriyama who are in charge of the title at Square Enix clued IGN in on some of the finer technical points of the game.

Players are looking at a 500 KB save file and 3,080 KB of Trophy data. Unlike most big name PS3 titles, the game will not feature HDD installation in any form.

Additionally, the team has gone to great lengths to ensure that loading times are minimal. Aside from the transition from town to field, players will never sit around as the game loads the next area or assets. The world will be seamless upon entering either of the two location types.

Final Fantasy XIII will be available to US consumers next April and European players June 25, 2010.

This never bothered me all that much, but whatever, still awesome that they won't be wasting my HDD space and it'll still load super fast.

I'm just happy it ain't anything like the forced installs in MGS4.

As a new PS3 owner, I dislike forced installs. I just want to play the damn game.
