Hey PixlBit, here's a scoop for you:
Netflix launched on Xbox 360 on November 19,2008. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that the PS3 discs will ship on on that day.
Says a more permanent solution is in the works for the future.
Earlier this week, Netflix announced that they would be bringing support to the PS3.
PS3 owners will be able to watch video from their consoles instantly, and would have access to the same library of titles as PC owners. However many still questioned why the streaming video would require PS3 owners to pop a disk into their console.
Yesterday, G4 spoke with Netflix's VP of corporate communication, Steve Swasey, in order to get an official answer. Swasey replied that for the current time, PS3 owners will have to request the disc, which they may keep, and use it each time they wish to watch a movie, although this method will not be permanent.
Eventually, Netflix is planning to develop an "embedded solution" much like the application used to provide Xbox 360 users with the service currently.
While Netflix has stated that the program will begin in November, an exact date has not been announced.
When 1up started the process of shutting down, there was one person who seemed to lead to charge to congregate the community in a single place. After his first visit here, it wasn't long before a slew of new members arrived. The site came alive and the real story of PixlBit began - the one that involves all of you. The person I'm referring to is, of course, Michael Alvarado, otherwise known as Michael117.
