Wooo awesome!
Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Officially Announced
The listing on Amazon.ca turns out to be correct.
It seems as though Amazon Canada accidentally revealed the release of Atlus' newest title two days ago when they listed Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey on their site.
While the news technically broke earlier this week, Atlus just officially announced the title's Western release today.
Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey is a "first-person science fiction RPG" set in the near future where a mysterious black hole has suddenly appeared around the south pole. Players will assume the role of an elite soldier picked to be part of the Strike Team, which has been ordered to examine the other side of the black spot, or Schwarzwelt, as nicknamed by the crew.
Staples of the Mega Ten series will be featured in Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey such as negotiating and bribing demons, of which there are 300 in total. Atlus describes Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey as "a return to the proud tradition of the all-time dungeon-crawling classic SMT: Nocturne."
Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey will release spring 2010 exclusively for the DS. Though the Amazon listing had mentioned a March 10, 2010 release date, it seems the date falls just short of the officially spring date Atlus has announced.
UPDATE: The Atlus Faithful email announcing the game has revealed that the March 10, 2010 release date is in fact the official release date.
